What Is the Support at Home Program and Can It Cover Physiotherapy?
Australia's Support at Home program is opening new doors for aged care recipients. Here is what it covers, who qualifies, and how physiotherapy fits in.
What Is the Support at Home Program?
Australia's Support at Home program is the federal government's framework for helping older Australians receive care, support, and allied health services — including physiotherapy — in their own home. It replaces the previous Home Care Packages program and is designed to give eligible recipients greater choice and control over the care they receive. Learn more about the program.
One of the most common questions we hear at Maru is whether physiotherapy is covered under Support at Home. The short answer: yes. Allied health services, including musculoskeletal physiotherapy, are a recognised component of the program for eligible recipients.
Can It Cover Physiotherapy?
Under the Support at Home program, physiotherapy can be funded as part of your home care package. This includes comprehensive assessment, hands-on treatment, and individualised rehabilitation programs — all delivered in the comfort of your own home.
At Maru Health, we are registered to provide physiotherapy services under the program. We work directly with clients, support coordinators, and case managers to ensure your physiotherapy visits are properly planned, documented, and claimed.
Common conditions we treat through home visits include arthritis, chronic pain, post-operative recovery, balance problems, mobility limitations, and fall prevention. We design individual exercise programs to improve strength, flexibility, and confidence in everyday activities.
